I started writing All The Games in January. I initially thought it would be an “easy” one to write. Boy, was I wrong!
I’ve hated Sheri way more than I have liked her—when really, there is absolutely nothing wrong with her.
I’ve hated my writing on more than one occasion and I’ve abandoned it a crap load in favour of other writing pursuits.
I was so confused. All The Colours took me just 3 weeks to get the first draft down, All The Darkness 4 weeks. Why has it been so hard to get book #3 in this series done?
People are asking for this one on a regular basis, what are you doing woman?!
ATG has kicked my butt all over the place to put it simply.
I went big chunks of time without writing a single bloody word on it . . . and then I got out of my writing rut.
I sent a very dear friend (she may also be bias but we won’t focus on that too closely) who has badgered me profusely to get this book out there, the prologue. I sent it fairly unpolished but I was just after her initial opinion.
She loved it and wanted more so I got a bit ballsy and sent her three more chapters.
It was a great way to see what needed to be fixed as I approached it chapter by chapter rather than getting all daunted over the entire document.
This way isn’t new, I know other writers who do it but it has definitely sparked it all back up for me again.
The other aspect that has helped is I’ve decided to release ATG as a novella.
I’m sorry, please don’t hate me. I just need to get this story done. I have another one (Paper Dreams) clanging around in my mind at extreme volumes.
All going well, I will have the first draft of ATG completed in TWO weeks. I can’t speculate on the editing process at this stage but a July/August release would be pretty awesome.
