Some days as a writer, particularly an indie writer, you can let self-doubt get the better of you.
Are my books actually touching anyone?
Does anyone want to actually read my work?
And some days . . .
Is anyone reading it? Or do they just disregard it on sight?
However, all it takes is one message from someone who felt something and my heart expands and explodes.
One positive message washes away the bad taste of less than great reviews.
I got a message from a lovely reader who is now reading All The Colours for a second time. She enjoyed my book that much she is going back for another read through! She also said usually the second time around she doesn’t enjoy it as much, focusing on mistakes and typos more, but she isn’t finding that with All The Colours. Yay!
I know there are mistakes in it, but I am beyond ecstatic she is enjoying it just as much the second time around!
This couldn't have come at a better time since I was a little upset over that 3 star-turned-2 star review recently.
If a book touched you, message the author of that book and tell them it did. You never know, your message could arrive in their inbox on a day where they’re wondering if they should continue or throw in the writing towel. And that would suck for those who may want to read more from that writer and for the writer, because they'll drown in all those unsaid words swirling around in their head.
Writing Update: Yes. I am writing! I am currently still writing Paper Dreams and I am working on an entirely different project alongside that. I am hoping for a December release for both. Once those are out of the way, I will get back to the zombies (halfway through) and finish off All The Colours series with All The Scars, which is only outlined at this stage . . . but I know where I'm taking it. I'm excited to bring you Pat's story, but the characters from my other WIP's are demanding my attention.
That's all for now. Have a great (rest of the) week!
