When did you start writing?
I have to say, it has been ever since I was an itty bitty and could put pen to paper. Some of my earliest memories of writing was my “movie scripts” and stories made up for my stars of Barbies and My Little Pony dolls. There may have been some stuffed bears in there too! *giggles*
We would love to read these Lexi. Besides writing, what do you love doing?
When I am not writing/editing (Private Lessons and Too Much Trouble), I love to draw and actually created a comic strip featurette, lighthearted similar to that of the Garfield vein, based on twins named Hayley and Nadia. It is basically a comical view of life that takes place in all the places life does: gym, school, home and often their favorite burger place. It is full of laughs and is a great way to relax. Speaking of gigging, I love to do that! I also adore it whenever I get a chance to sing, work-out, listen to music, or spend time with those that I love. Within those numbers, most definitely includes my two mischief makers, my Yorkies!
What was the last picture you took with your phone?
Lately the pictures that have reigned supreme are ones that I am taking for my upcoming cookbook #FoodParty. I say this so that you know that I am not some weird food lady. LOL Anyway, it is of fluffy and buttery cinnamon banana pancakes. And just thinking back on them now is making me hungry. :) Before that one, I took a selfie of my latest Pinterest hairstyle attempt of a loose braided “Elsa” side swept style. *giggles*
Did you get in trouble at school?
I’ll say…not too much. Haha. At least that is what I am going with. *winks* But I will say this, I do recall this incident in junior high school. For some reason I decided to push the limits of the dress code and wore a more mature shirt. Well…at my school, that did not fly and I found myself sentenced to don my ugly gym class uniform for the remainder of the day. Lesson learned. *giggles*
What is the weirdest thing you have eaten?
I got a bit adventurous as a kid and decided to try the delicacy of Play-Doh (Playdough). As I hold my hands up here, just let me say, in my defense I had a cook set so the shapes looked like food. *giggles*
As an adult I have eaten my share of interesting, exotic, and out there foods, but today let’s just stick with, dear Kermit please cover your ears, frog legs.
As far as more frequently, in the department of odd, I love the writer snack of peanut butter toast and, wait for it, sliced fresh strawberries on top of it. Just love that odd combo. Great fitness and energy boosting yummy snack!
What is one word that gives you the creeps?
Okay, Lo-arna, I really got stuck on this one for a moment. But after a long time racking my brain and a quick consult with my ever trusty thesaurus, always nearby as I write, I reminded myself of one of the creepiest words to me: skulking. Ewh, yuck! Gives me shivers and stirs all kinds of emotions. It is a great word, appears in my novels, and is creepy as all get out to me. Haha.
You're right, skulking is well, creepy.
Who is your hero?
My sister and good old-fashioned people who embrace being themselves, being kind to those around them, and are trailblazers! I respect people who are honest, don’t take themselves too serious, are always learning, and always pushing themselves to be the best version of themselves. The list continues, but those are the people that I admire and strive to be like!
Tell us a random fact about yourself
I have four—yes very random—facts that just made their way to the forefront of my mind! I love a good TV Binge via Netflix of romantic shows! I love steamed rice or rice anything for that matter! I swim better underwater than on the surface. (That started because I almost drowned at the beach as a little one and afterward to make certain that did not happen again I jumped in and mastered my fear head on by starting underwater—the scariest part of that ordeal—and became strong at it to the point where I loved it.) Finally, I absolutely adore soothing bubble baths—the hotter the better!
