A) Why not?
B) She is rad
C) She has just released her second book!
When did you start writing?
I’ve been writing ever since I was a very young child, back in the days of DOS operating system and WordStar, saving on floppy disks (the big ones that were actually floppy) and printing on continuous feed paper.
As early as elementary school I aspired to be published—but that was back in the days of vanity presses and garages full of pre-paid book copies (in other words, if you didn’t score an agent, you didn’t get published). Thankfully I waited until I better honed my skills and can print on demand without the aid of a publishing house! Phew! :D
Yes. I am old.
Aren't we all? *hangs head in shame*
Besides writing, what do you love doing?
I love spending time with my family and friends. I love knitting and crocheting. I love reading and drawing (I’m no good at the latter) and I love taking photos. And (bad as it is) I love watching TV.
What was the last picture you took with your phone?
The last picture I took with my phone is of my son opening a dictionary to read it for fun on his day off from school.
You've got to be going somewhere right with that kid!
In the traditional sense, no, I never went to detention. I was quiet and did my homework.
However, while teachers thought I was taking notes in class, I may have been writing fiction instead. Or daydreaming about what I was going to write if I wasn’t actually writing.
What is the weirdest thing you have eaten?
I may have eaten an ant today that was on my computer where I thought I had dropped a bit of a chocolate cookie. :-o
What is one word that gives you the creeps?
It would be oh so easy to make a political statement here but I won’t. 0:-)
I wouldn’t say there are any words that give me the creeps but there are ones I hate (for instance, cunt).
Oh you hate that one? I so don't use that word. Ever. *eyes dart around the room*
Who is your hero?
At the risk of going with a clichéd answer:
My little girl, Kaela, who is defying all odds and blowing away expectations. She’s an amazing little girl who is one of the lights of my life.
Check out Kaela's Facebook page

Smiles by Trials
From outside Serenity's curtain she asked, "Brianna? Can I join you?"
"Of course," replied Brianna. As Rhea stepped inside, she asked, "How's it look so far?"
"You're—you realize you're kinda exposed there and I can sorta see—"
"Yup," she chirped, tossing a saucy smile at Rhea. "So what do you think?"
Rhea swallowed hard, shifting her gaze to Brianna. Those are pretty damn amazing.
She's asking about the tattoo, dork.
Are you so sure?
Oh shut the fuck up and look at her tattoo before this gets weird . . .er.
Serenity was nearly three-quarters finished outlining a floral design that—once colored—Rhea guessed would be cherry blossoms.
"They're—it's—lovely." You're sexy and it's killing me. Happy now?
Brianna glanced at Rhea with a frown. "Lovely? See now you're scaring me—"
"I don't mean to," Rhea yelped. "Serenity's doing an amazing job, I swear. 'Lovely' is a good thing."
Serenity smiled, still hard at work tracing the transferred guidelines with her tattoo machine. "We're gonna stop with the outlines tonight and I'll add the color in a couple weeks. Gimme, oh—" She paused to check her watch, its face against the inside of her wrist. "—twenty more minutes."
"That's—fine—" Rhea faltered. "I'm in no rush."
"So . . ." Serenity cleared her throat. "How do you two know each other?"
"We're both reformed band geeks," replied Brianna.
Serenity leaned back, wide-eyed. She glanced between Rhea and Brianna. "You, Bri? Really? Color guard though, right?"
"No." Brianna chuckled. "Flute and trumpet."
"Oh, so you two go way back."
Brianna flinched and whimpered as Serenity continued to work. "Uh huh."
"So on all those overnight competition trips, did you ever . . . you know . . .?"
Rhea glanced at Brianna who slowly smiled. "I dunno about her," said Brianna. "But the thought's crossed my mind." Her smile faded. "She doesn't play for the team though. My loss for sure."
If there was any further conversation that night, Rhea didn't remember it.
